Ghost Ranch is nestled in the high desert of northern New Mexico, about 65 miles northwest of Santa Fe. Getting there is part of the experience—the landscape gradually opens into the mesas, cliffs, and colors that Diane loved so deeply.

Flying to New Mexico
Albuquerque International Sunport
ABQ · Approximately 2–2½ hours to Ghost Ranch
Albuquerque offers the greatest number of flight options and will likely be the best choice for many guests.
Santa Fe Regional Airport
SAF · Approximately 1½ hours to Ghost Ranch
Santa Fe is a much smaller airport with fewer flights, but it's significantly closer to Ghost Ranch.
Our suggestion: Check both airports before booking. A convenient connection into Santa Fe may be worth it, while Albuquerque generally offers more choices and potentially better fares.
Before You Book

We hope you'll join us for the entire weekend.
Activities will begin Thursday evening, October 1, with our main Celebration of Life taking place on Saturday.
We recommend arriving at Ghost Ranch Thursday afternoon and planning your return travel for Sunday afternoon or later.
A complete weekend schedule will be shared as plans are finalized.
Renting a Car
We recommend renting a car if possible.
Ghost Ranch is beautifully remote, and having your own vehicle will give you the most flexibility throughout the weekend.
A standard rental car is sufficient for reaching the Ranch; four-wheel drive is generally not necessary.
If this is your first visit, we recommend making the drive during daylight hours.

Give yourself some time and enjoy it.
As you travel north toward Abiquiú, the landscape begins to change dramatically. You'll be entering the high desert that inspired generations of artists—and that Diane returned to again and again.
Ghost Ranch sits at approximately 6,500 feet above sea level, and its remote location is part of what makes it so special.
A Few Tips Before You Go
Download your directions.
Cell service can become limited as you travel north.
Fill your tank.
It's best to leave Santa Fe with plenty of gas.
Bring water.
You'll be traveling at higher elevation and through a dry climate. Avoid a margarita the first day.
Give yourself extra time.
There's no need to rush this drive.
Arrive before dark if you can.
The drive is easier to navigate—and much more beautiful—in daylight.
